AB102-Digital-Beam-Forming

The AB102 is a software module for implementing an adaptive narrow band frequency domain digital beam forming ( DBF).

The I/O interface of the AB102 is using a concept of message passing as described in the 3L Diamond RTOS Documentation. This is compatible with FC203D's BURST_OUT port format, which encodes a number of microframes B, a number of spatial channels C, for a single selected frequency band, K.

The AB102 module has 3 inputs: several microframes B, matching number of spatial channels C and selected frequency band K. The module also reads an array of post-interpolated steering vector of length C based on the requested look direction. A new steering vector can be applied at any time; the effect will take place on the next complete burst. It is not necessary to continuously send steering vectors as the module will re-use the most up-to-date vector. The module operates continuously in real-time mode.

INTERFACE TO FC203 FPGA Cores

The AB102 module is compatible with FPGA core from Sundance DSP ( information provided on request ) as an input source but custom FPGA or DSP cores/software developed by users can also be used as a replacement for FC203 core supplied by Sundance DSP to selected customers.

DEVELOPMENT MODULE

The AB102 software module is supported by a unit test bench AB102-D. The AB102-D generates an input random data and sends them to the AB102. Part of the AB102-D is a zero degree steering vector test and read out of the output array. Any error checks of the output of the AB102 module are to be preformed with integration of the upstream modules. The test bench application runs continuously in a test loop mode until interrupted by the user.

AB102 is a complete 3L Diamond/DSP RTOS based task including:

  • C source code and header ( .c, .h ) files
  • C6000 object library ( .lib ) files
  • 3L Diamond/DSP RTOS integration support ( .cfg ) with implementation examples
  • Matlab simulation NOTE: Not available in Release 0.2
