The DSP498 is an FPGA PrPMC module from Sundance supporting 64bits 66MHz PCI bus with data rates over 500MB/s. The module has a Xilinx VirtexII-Pro (XC2VP100-FF1704) FPGA which can be configured to provide C4x style Comm-ports, or any other custom communication protocols over the 300+ available IO pins. It also one offers FPDP interface through a programmable IO daughter module, 14 RSL, and other control functions. This module is equipped with the ACE SC in-system configuration capability, which will configure the FPGA on power up. It can also be configured via the PCI interface and JTAG.

The Sundance-provided basic VHDL core uses approximately 300k gates of the FPGA while the rest is available for the user application. The module can also be provided without the basic VHDL core, in which case all the I/O's are available to user.

The built-in PowerPCs and the large number of FPGA resource makes this module particularly suitable for many applications benefiting from re-configurable computing and DSP power. Applications in Software Defined Radio (SDR), automation, image processing and military are some of the few that can utilize this PMC module.
