Reno, NV – [August 26, 2025]: SundanceDSP Inc., a pioneer in embedded computing systems, today announced the launch of the Solar Express 2000 (SE2000), a high-performance 3U OpenVPX board aligned with the SOSA™ Technical Standard. The SE2000 is designed around the groundbreaking AMD Versal™ AI Edge Series Gen 2 and Prime Series Gen 2 adaptive SoCs, bringing a new level of compute density, versatility, and AI acceleration to edge platforms in defense, aerospace, and scientific research.
The first SE2000 release features the Versal AI Edge Series Gen 2 XC2VE3858 device, offering hardware-accelerated inferencing, high-throughput datapaths, and real-time analytics in a rugged form factor. Additional package-compatible device options from the Versal AI Edge Series Gen 2 and Prime Series Gen 2 will become available soon.
Designed for high-speed data processing and mission-critical applications, the SE2000 features optical and RF interfaces, an FMC+ expansion connector, and a dedicated AMD Artix™ 7 FPGA for voltage-level translation, ensuring seamless integration with a broad range of FMC+ modules. The board also features advanced system management via an IPMC controller, secure boot capabilities with TPM 2.0, and support for both VITA 48.2 conduction and VITA 48.8 air cooling.
“The SE2000 is a strategic leap forward in edge computing,” said Dr. Nory Nakhaee, CEO of SundanceDSP. “By combining the extraordinary performance of AMD Versal architecture with a SOSA-aligned, VPX-compliant platform, we’re enabling our customers to deploy real-time AI and signal processing workloads directly at the edge, in environments where size, weight, and power are critical.”
“AMD Versal AI Edge Series Gen 2 and Prime Series Gen 2 adaptive SoCs, with their single-chip intelligence capability, represent a major breakthrough for embedded applications,” said Manuel Uhm, Director of Product Marketing, AMD. “These devices integrate high-performance CPUs, programmable logic, GPUs and next-generation AI Engines into a single device, unlocking previously unreachable performance for SWAP-constrained edge systems. By embedding a Versal AI Edge Series Gen 2 device into a rugged, modular VPX card, SundanceDSP is bringing these capabilities to market in a deployable form factor.”
