VPX-to-PCIe

The VPX-to-PCIe  is designed for rapid firmware/application development and testing of OpenVPX 3U boards, without the need for a VPX chassis. It allows you to connect OpenVPX 3U boards to your PC via a PCIe x4 interface, and access its features and functions through a variety of headers. It can be powered by either the PCIe slot or a standard 6-pin PCIe external power connector. The board contains a DC-DC converter for 3.3Vaux so only 12V need to be supplied to the board. The VPX-to-PCIe supplies 12V and 3.3Vaux to the openVPX PIC under test.

With VPX-to-PCIe, you can easily and quickly develop and test your OpenVPX 3U boards, without investing in a VPX chassis. It is ideal for prototyping, debugging, and validating your VPX applications.

Features

• PCIe x4 interface to PC: This provides a high-speed data connection between the board and the PC.

• IPMA, IPMB, and GPIO interfaces via pin header: This allows you to access and control the features and functions of the IPMC and payload board through a simple serial bus. It can also be used to develop custom chassis manager solutions.

• PC PCIe slot plug-in: This enables you to plug the board into any available PCIe slot on your PC, without the need for a VPX chassis.

• 3U VPX peripheral board slot: This accepts the SOSA slot profile SOSA slot profile: SLT3-PAY-1F1F2U1TU1T1U1T-14.2.16 that you want to develop and test. (other slot options available contact Sundance support for options)

• Dip switches for global address selection: These let you select the global address of the VPX board, which is required for communication with the chassis manager.

• JTAG header to program the IPMC or payload from the ChMC.

• Pushbutton for PCIe RST

• USB 3.0 and USB2.0 connector for USB host testing

• SATA connector for SATA testing

• iX industrial connector for testing the control plane

• Mini display port connector for display testing

• UART header for accessing console

• XMC connector for testing the XMC map

• Power supply options: This board can be powered by either the PCIe slot or a standard 6-pin PCIe external power connector. The board has DC-DC converters that produce the 3.3Vaux. The board only supplies 12V and 3.3Vaux to the VPX PIC.

Applications

  • Rapid firmware/hardware development and testing
  • High-performance data acquisition and signal processing
  • Multi-chassis system integration
